An initiative of the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals (BAWP), the city wine festivals have been part of the celebrations of Bulgarian wine and local wine varieties in October for the sixth year. In 2025, Veliko Tarnovo will be the scene of the City Wine Festival for the third time. The Bulgarian Wine Association invites everyone – residents and guests of the city, travelers and professionals – to start the celebration of Bulgarian wine together with inspiration, unforgettable meetings and good taste.
On October 17 and 18, 2025, we invite you to celebrate INTERNATIONAL MAVRUD DAY in Veliko Tarnovo with a BLEND / of emotions, aromas, flavors and surprises.
Location: the beginning of Samovodska Charshya and the terrace in front of the Stratilat will be transformed into an open-air wine scene.
The Bulgarian local grape varieties, with which Bulgarian winemakers give the authentic look to Bulgarian wine, are the inspiration and cause of the festival. A love for Bulgarian wine is what the charming team of wine experts of the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals will infect you with. At the wine bars they will present you with more than 40 expressive wines from over 15 local varieties. Something delicious, prepared by culinary masters, will challenge you to discover the best combination of wine and food. Part of the festival this year will also be “Manja Van” and the “Wine and Tapas” restaurant. The jazz music of The Sunshine Duo and local rock legends The Hitch-Hikers & Gabo will infuse rhythm into the street’s aromatic chaos and turn the evening into a symphony of taste and sound.
