Wine Tasting among The Wine Tanks: How Improvisation Became an Unforgettable Experience
The spring of 2022 brought us an exciting challenge – our friends from BG Bulgaria Tours, an Israeli tour operator, gave us the great trust to welcome their guests. The first wine-tasting group visit was scheduled for late April – perfect weather for sitting in the garden. At least that’s what we thought when we made plans for the reception. Nature, however, decided to play a prank on us and in the midst of a warm and sunny April week sent us a wet and cold Thursday. When entertaining guests, you should always be prepared to turn the original plan upside down. Just in case…
How we created a cozy tasting room among the wine tanks
So on April 29, 2022, the only warm, dry and large enough place we could welcome our nine guests was the wine aging room. This led to a real challenge – we had to create a comfortable tasting environment amongst the tanks. To do this, we had to move the 500-litre oak barrels of Syrah from the 2021 vintage. Moving the heavy barrels turned out to be an activity that involved not only strength, but also a great deal of ingenuity. After about two hours of hard work, we managed to set up a cozy tasting room that turned out to be more attractive than we imagined.

The rainy day that brought us closer

We shared with our guests our red and white wines and delicious bites, but also a unique experience created by just the unforeseen circumstances. In the setting of the winery, the tasting turned into a beautiful moment. The wine and food warmed and brought everyone together, turning the rainy day into an unforgettable memory.
This impromptu tasting among the tanks taught us that every encounter with our guests is a unique experience. We will always do our best to offer an authentic and memorable welcome.
