Building an indoor tasting room: How the case helped us take the next step
Many of the things in our little project were caused by chance circumstances, which then became decisive for one or another step forward. We have always wondered whether we find the “chance” or it finds us.
Какво е пелин?
Our meeting with the America for Bulgaria Foundation was one such chance encounter. In March 2022 we had the chance to win funding for our project “Visiting the Dragoshinov Winery”. One of the main goals of this project was to build an indoor tasting room that would enable us to welcome guests year-round and present our wines in a comfortable setting, regardless of the weather outside.
Wine tasting and tourism in the countryside around Veliko Tarnovo
The America for Bulgaria Foundation’s competition for funding projects aimed at developing rural tourism is an important initiative to support tourism in Northern Bulgaria. Held in partnership with the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Trade Agency, the LocalFood.bg Foundation (Pendara), the Devetashko Plateau Association and Traventuria Ltd, the competition targeted tourism projects that offer authentic experiences in the region and funded a total of 20 projects. It was open to applications from all over Northern Bulgaria, including the area around Veliko Tarnovo, where our winery is located.

Now, thanks to the support of the America for Bulgaria Foundation, we are able to offer our visitors in the Veliko Tarnovo area wine tastings that combine the flavors of our wine with the sights of the region. We created the indoor tasting room with convenience and comfort in mind and allows our guests to enjoy the wine and authentic flavors of the region in a comfortable setting, regardless of the season.
An adventure born of chance
For us, this tasting room is not just a room – it is a symbol of how serendipity can help develop a small project, making it part of the tourist map. We look forward to welcoming more wine lovers and providing them with an unforgettable experience in the beauty of the area around Veliko Tarnovo.

Ако искате да се докоснете до традициите на българското винарство и да опитате уникалния вкус на пелин, заповядайте във винарска изба Драгошинов през месеците декември, януари и февруари, когато ще можете да опитате от нашия пелин. Тъй като сами събираме голяма част от билките за него, а и капацитетът на нашата изба е малък, произвеждаме огранчено количество, което обикновено свършва преди края на февруари. Нашите дегустации са пътешествие в света на авторското българско вино, а пелинът ни води към стари рецепти, съхранили духа на региона.
