Syrah 2022 – red wine with elegance and character
The grapes for our Syrah 2022 wine come from an 18-year-old vineyard near the village of Momkovo, near Svilengrad, South-East Bulgaria. 2022 was the second year in which we worked with precisely defined rows in the vineyard. The year was favorable with no extreme weather events and no prolonged extreme heat.
The altitude is about 250 m, the terrain is sloping, with a southern exposure. This part of the vineyard grows on cinnamon-podzolic soils. For our Syrah from the 2022 harvest, the grapes are from 10 rows in the middle part of the plot.
Hand-picked and sorted on September 14, 2022, ensuring the best quality. Fermentation is classic, with constant temperature control, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 10 months in 500-liter French oak barrels and bottled on August 19, 2023.
The color is deep ruby with violet hues. The aroma impresses with intense spicy notes and the violet typical of the variety. The taste is soft, with nuances of red fruits, mulberry and black pepper, combined with freshness and a full, elegant body. The finish is long and memorable.
This red wine pairs perfectly with aged cheeses, red meat, and dishes with rich sweet-salty flavors.
